The Young Cheetahs endured a difficult evening at Bedok Stadium as Lion City Sailors secured a 5-1 victory in Tuesday's Singapore Premier League 2 encounter.
Hougang United returned to SPL2 action on Tuesday evening looking to build on the progress shown in recent matches against Geylang International and Balestier Khalsa.
The Young Cheetahs faced a challenging Lion City Sailors side at Bedok Stadium, with the hosts taking control of the contest and making the most of their opportunities over the course of the evening.
Hougang continued searching for ways to play forward and create openings, but the Sailors maintained their advantage as the match progressed.
One positive moment came through Nigel Ho, who was introduced from the bench for his Young Cheetahs debut.
The youngster made an immediate impression, playing with confidence and looking to take the game forward whenever the opportunity arose.
His positive contribution was rewarded with a goal, as Nigel found the back of the net to mark his debut with a memorable first goal for the Young Cheetahs.
Despite Hougang continuing to compete, the Sailors added to their tally and eventually secured a 5-1 victory at Bedok Stadium.
It was a difficult result for the Young Cheetahs, but another valuable competitive experience for a developing squad as the players continue their progression through the club's pathway.
The squad will now enter a period of transition, with several players set to leave for National Service. The Young Cheetahs will continue working to develop and strengthen the group as the SPL2 campaign progresses.
