Brazilian midfielder Lucas Cardoso has signed for Hougang United! The 30-year-old joins the Cheetahs ahead of the new Singapore Premier League season after his spell with Indonesian top-flight side Malut United.
With the transfer now complete, Cardoso joins his new teammates as preparations continue for the upcoming campaign.
An intelligent and technically gifted midfielder, Cardoso is capable of operating in a variety of central and attacking midfield roles. Blessed with excellent vision, composure in possession and an eye for the final pass, he brings creativity, experience and versatility to Hougang United's midfield.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Cardoso began his senior career with Cabofriense before embarking on a journey through Portugal, where he represented Atlético Reguengos, Juventude de Évora, União 1919 and Guiense. His performances earned him a move to Bulgaria, first with Chernomorets Balchik before joining Dobrudzha Dobrich, where he played an important role in the club's promotion to the Bulgarian First League.
Following his successful spell in Bulgaria, Cardoso made the move to Indonesia in early 2026, signing for Malut United in Liga 1. Competing in one of Southeast Asia's strongest leagues, he continued to demonstrate his technical quality and experience at the highest level before making the switch to Singapore with Hougang United.
Now, after gaining valuable experience across Brazil, Portugal, Bulgaria and Indonesia, Cardoso begins a new chapter with the Cheetahs. His arrival adds creativity, leadership and international experience to Hougang United's midfield ahead of the new Singapore Premier League season.
