Singapore international Jordan Emaviwe has signed for Hougang United! The 25-year-old defender joins the Cheetahs ahead of the new Singapore Premier League season, bringing international experience and proven quality from Thailand to strengthen the club's defence.
With the transfer now complete, Emaviwe joins his new teammates as preparations continue for the upcoming campaign.
Standing at 1.93 metres, Emaviwe is a commanding centre-back renowned for his strength, aerial presence and composure in possession. While primarily deployed in central defence, his versatility allows him to operate as a left-back or even further forward when required, adding valuable flexibility to the Cheetahs' squad.
Born in Singapore to a Nigerian father and a Singaporean Chinese mother, Emaviwe developed his game both locally and abroad. After beginning his football journey in Singapore, he continued his development in Switzerland before returning home to establish himself in the Singapore Premier League, earning a reputation as one of the country's brightest young defenders.
His impressive performances saw him make the move to Thailand, where he featured in Thai League 1 with Chiangrai United, gaining valuable experience in one of Southeast Asia's most competitive leagues. During his time in Thailand, he continued to showcase his defensive qualities while also contributing in attack when called upon.
On the international stage, Emaviwe has represented Singapore at Under-23 level before making his senior debut in 2024. He was part of the Lions squad for the ASEAN Championship and later helped Singapore secure qualification for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, further underlining his growing importance on the international stage.
Now, after gaining valuable experience both at home and abroad, Emaviwe begins a new chapter with Hougang United. His arrival adds leadership, athleticism and international pedigree to the Cheetahs' backline ahead of the new Singapore Premier League season.
